NOTICE OF RACE - updated August 6, 2005
The Edgartown Yacht Club Twelve Metre Regatta (the "Regatta") for Classic Vintage, Classic Traditional, Modern and Grand Prix Twelve Metre Class Yachts will be held in the waters off Edgartown, Massachusetts on the island of Martha's Vineyard on Saturday and Sunday, August 13 and 14, 2005. There will be a Practice Race on Friday, August 12, 2005. The Edgartown Yacht Club ("EYC") is the Organizing Authority.
1. RULES
1.1. The Regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, ("RRS"), the prescriptions of US SAILING, the Offshore Racing Council ("ORC") Special Regulations Category 4, any modifications thereto, and the Sailing Instructions.
2. ELIGIBILITY and CLASSES
2.1. The Regatta will offer racing for the following classes and divisions.
· Grand Prix: yachts built in 1983 and after with wing keels, and yachts modified to that configuration
· Modern: sloops built between 1967 and 1983 with skeg/rudder, and yachts modified to that configuration
· Classic Traditional: sloops built 1967 and earlier, with keel-hung rudders
· Classic Vintage: Bermuda-rigged cutters and sloops built before 1950, fitted with wooden spars unless originally fitted with aluminum
3. ENTRIES, CONDITIONS and FEES
3.1. Yacht entries for all Classes for the Regatta shall be made on the Entry Form provided and shall be delivered to the Edgartown Yacht Club Race Committee, One Dock Street, Edgartown, Massachusetts 02568 on or before 1800 hrs. Friday, August 12, 2005.
3.2. The Edgartown Yacht Club may in its sole discretion accept any late entry.
3.3. The applicable entry fee for each is listed on the Entry Form.
3.4. Sailing Instructions will be available from the Edgartown Yacht Club Race Office, One Dock Street, Edgartown, Massachusetts 02539 (508) 627-4364) beginning at 1000 hrs August 12, 2005.

4.4 The starting sequence for the second race each day will begin ten minutes after the last yacht to finish the prior race or the expiration of the time limit for that race, whichever occurs first. Yachts shall start each subsequent race in the same order as they started the first race of each Series.
4.5 In the event that any class(es) is unable to complete two races on Saturday, the Race Committee may, in its sole discretion, schedule a third race on Sunday and move the starting time for that class(es) to 0900 hrs. Such change will be communicated to each yacht in the affected class(es) before 1800 hrs on Saturday.
5. RACE COURSES
5.1. The course to be sailed and the magnetic bearing to the weather mark will be displayed on the Race Committee Boat Course Board under the appropriate Class designation.
5.1.1. COURSE "L1" windward-leeward

6. SCORING and ALTERNATIVE PENALTIES
6.1 Low Point scoring will be used, with all races included in the scoring.
If ties remain after application of RRS Appendix A2.3, the winner will be
based on lowest cumulative times.
6.2 A boat that did not start, did not finish, retired after finishing or
was disqualified shall be scored points for the finishing place one more
than the number of boats that finish within the time limit. This changes
rule A4.2.
7. PRIZES
7.1. First place prizes will be awarded as follows:
7.1.1 Grand Prix yachts for the combined Saturday and Sunday series
7.1.2 Modern yachts for the combined Saturday and Sunday series
7.1.3 Classic Traditional yachts for the combined Saturday and Sunday series
7.1.4 Classic Vintage yachts for the combined Saturday and Sunday series
7.1.5. The Kay Hubner Memorial Trophy for Classic Yachts, ("The Edgartown
Yacht Club / Nantucket Yacht Club Team Race")
