EYC Rhodes 19 Fleet
Welcome to the EYC Rhodes 19 fleet page. The Rhodes is a 19’ sloop that is available with either a centerboard or keel. All Rhodes in the EYC fleet have a keel. The Rhodes have been sailing in Edgartown waters since the late 1940s and have been an integral part of the racing and sailing instruction fleets since the early 1960s. The Rhodes continue to attract novices and more accomplished sailors of all ages. Its broad beam, heavy keel, stable platform and relatively small sail area make it an incredibly seaworthy and safe boat for novices and families. The fine-tuning capabilities and spinnaker work add challenges to even the most experienced sailor. The fact that the class is a true one design class with limitations on equipment changes ensure that most Rhodes from all decades remain competitive.
Rhodes Fleet on the Rebound
The Rhodes fleet continues to grow and remains committed to a return to its glory years when 10-12 boats were regularly on the race course. The boat is still the most user friendly in the EYC fleet and is ideal for all ages and levels of ability.
We have the boats, and are you looking for experienced crew and enthusiastic sailors to join our class?
For the 2024 season, there are four boats committed to the races. Jouster, Alive, Amazon and Navicula. There are other boats on the market and close to race ready.
Join the Rhodes fleet! For more information please contact Jeff Randall 617-823-9020 [email protected].
