GETTING TO THE ISLAND

Martha's Vineyard is one of the most popular summer vacation destinations on the East Coast. Ferries, housing, hotels, moorings, and restaurants are reserved nine to twelve months ahead of the next summer season. It is highly recommended that visiting yachtsmen make all reservations as soon as possible. 

There are many ways to get to the island, Ferries, Flights and Sailing your boat! Here are some ferries:

LAUNCH / TAKEOUT SERVICE

Boats Launching on Cape Cod and Sailing to Martha's Vineyard

MacDougall’s Cape Cod Marine Services: 

  • Address: 145 Falmouth Heights Road, Falmouth MA 02540.

  • They will provide H12 launch and take out services and parking for associated trailers and vehicles. The fee is $160 to launch from MacDougalls and they require two week’s notice.

Boats Arriving to Martha's Vineyard Via Trailer: Launch Sites

  • Edgartown from Katama Landing: 87 Edgartown Bay Rd, Edgartown, MA 02568
  • Collins Beach: located at the base of Cooke Street adjacent to the Reading Room. Tow vehicles will require 4WD due to sandy footing.
  • Available at the Edgartown School parking lot at 35 Robinson Road in Edgartown. 
  • Racers intending to store a trailer during the regatta should contact EYC waterfront director Josh Saltmarsh at [email protected] no later than July 15, 2024.

HOUSING + LOCAL ACCOMMODATIONS

Martha's Vineyard is one of the most popular summer vacation destinations on the East Coast. Hotel accommodations fill up very far in advance. It is highly recommended that all reservations are made as soon as possible.  

We hope to provide housing with EYC members to as many competitors as possible. To do so, we will be arranging housing for 2 people per boat  (skipper + crew) only on a first come first serve basis.  While we will do our best, free housing cannot be guaranteed.

MOORINGS + BORROWED BOATS

To sign up for a mooring and borrowed boat,  please fill out the form when registering. You will be contacted by our volunteer boat + mooring coordinator, Warren Vose, as needed. If you plan to borrow a boat please plan to bring your own spinnaker and spinnaker pole. Both moorings and borrowed boats will be available on a first come first serve basis.  If there are any questions, please reach out to Warren Vose  [email protected] .

GETTING TO YOUR HERRESHOFF

  • EYC Launch “Helot”: VHF Ch 72

Launch can also be reached by calling the Edgartown Yacht Club front desk at (508)-627-4361. Please note your mooring number and general location to ensure prompt service. Leaves from the EYC Anchor Deck 

  • Edgartown Public Launch “Old Port”: VHF Ch 68

RACE DAY RADIO

  • Everyone is required to have a VHF radio on board. On race days, the VHF radio channel will be announced during skippers meeting for communication with the Race Committee and announcements 

CHAPPY FERRY CROSSING

Please note you will need to cross the Chappy Ferry channel to go from the inner harbor moorings to the outer harbor for racing. The Chappy Ferry runs two boats concurrently that go back and forth at frequent intervals. THE CHAPPY FERRY HAS THE RIGHT OF WAY OVER ALL OTHER BOATS. Please exercise caution and plan your timing to cross the ferry. They will often allow boats extra time to cross them before leaving the slip, but do not assume that will occur. 

EYC FOOD AND DRINK

  • Breakfast at the Galley Grill:
    •  Saturday and Sunday AM’s yummy breakfast will be available to purchase at the Galley Grill. 
  • Pre-Order Boxed Lunches & Saturday Dinner Reception:
    • Pre-order boxed lunches for Saturday and Sunday are available for purchase during registration with the chef's choice of meat, veggie and gluten free options. Boxed lunches will need to be registered for in advance same day sign-up may not be available.
    • Dinner Reception: We are delighted to host a dinner reception and the Annual Meeting Saturday night at the main club house. This will be a delicious buffet with a relaxed dress code. Dinner will need to be signed up with total participants in advance and we encourage sailors to bring family and friends. 
  • Drinks:
    • Drinks will be available to purchase within the Club House and in the Galley Grill during operating hours. 
  • Snacks & Provided Meals
    • We’ll have some yummy bits for the Welcome Reception friday night as well as snacks after sailing and during the awards ceremony

PAYMENT

  • Non-EYC Members
    •  Boxed lunches and Saturday Dinner Reception may be paid in advance by credit card when registering
    • For all drinks, breakfast from the galley grill and championship gear may be paid for at the time by credit card. 
  • EYC Members:
    • May make all payments via their club accounts, or by the methods listed above for non-members 

EYC DRESS CODE

We’ve arranged for a relaxed dress code at the Edgartown Yacht Club for the weekend, including the Friday Welcome Party and Saturday Dinner Reception. However, At all times, shirts and shoes are required on the EYC premises. Gentleman, please remove your hats inside the Galley Grill or inside the Main Clubhouse

TRANSPORTATION

Edgartown is very walkable. However, if you need a way to get around MV, there are many options: 

PARKING

Edgartown in the summer is really tough for parking. If you are driving, get to town early and prepare to hunt for a spot! The further you go from the center of town, the better luck you may have. 

  • There will be limited additional parking available at the EYC Tennis Center 94 Peases Point Way, Edgartown, MA 02539.
  • Another option is to park in the Park & Ride lot located at the Triangle in Edgartown. A free parking shuttle runs every 15-20 minutes and drops off at Mayhew Lane, just opposite the EYC

LOCAL RESTAURANTS

Here are some local restaurants if you prefer not to join us for breakfast at the club or pre-order boxed lunches or just want more flexibility. 

  • Behind the Bookstore: One of the prettiest outdoor spots to dine in town. Offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great coffee and pastries to go!  
  • Rosewater Market: great for take-away lunches and prepared meals 
  • Expresso Love: Another great breakfast spot to grab coffee and breakfast. They also offer salads and lunches as well 
  • Quarter Deck: Offering takeaway fast food. Great chowder! 
  • 19 Raw: Great seafood as an eat-in dinner or lunch option. 
  • Alchemy: Wonderful cocktails and great dinner 
  • Atlantic: Sitdown lunch and dinner with a spectacular ocean view
